Want to get more from ChatGPT? Try the ChatGPT plugin. A paid subscription to OpenAI’s ChatGPT Plus provides access to hundreds of plugins designed to extend the capabilities of AI chatbots. You can use these plugins to interact with external apps, services and companies to make travel arrangements, reserve a table at a restaurant, order food delivery, apply for a job, play a game, track your diet or learn a new language.
But with nearly 900 plugins at last count and more popping up every day, which one is the right one to use? Here are the best plugins we found and how to use them the right way.

ChatGPT Plus
Step 1: Sign up for ChatGPT Plus
Access to ChatGPT’s plugins currently requires a ChatGPT Plus membership, which will set you back $20 per month. If you are not already a member, go to the ChatGPT website and log in with your account. Click on Upgrade to Plus option at the bottom of the left sidebar. In the pop-up window, click Upgrade to PlusThen enter your payment information and click Subscribe.

Step 2: View current plugins
Once your ChatGPT Plus subscription is activated, return to the ChatGPT chat screen and click GPT-4 above all. From the small menu that appears, select plugin (beta).

Step 3: Open the plugin store
Since you don’t currently have any plugins added, select No plugins are enabled Options and then click Plugin Store button

Step 4: Install the plugin
A window for the Plugin Store pops up with apps organized in a slightly different way. Click Popular To see the most popular plugins, New For the most recent additions, and All To show them all. If you see a plugin that interests you, click it Install button next to it. After you install the plugin, another category for installed You will give a home to the chosen ones.

Step 5: Enable your plugin
After you’ve downloaded some plugins, close the Store window. Back on the chat screen, click the row of icons to see your installed plugins. From the drop-down window, check the plugin you want to use. You can only enable up to three plugins at a time, although you can change them at any time depending on how you want to use them.

Step 6: Use the plugin
To use one of the active plugins, submit a question or request referring to the relevant topic. For example, if you’ve enabled the Kayak plugin, ask ChatGPT to help you find a flight, hotel room, or rental car for a specific location and time. If you’ve enabled the DoorDash plugin, ask for a list of local restaurants for local delivery or pickup. If you’ve enabled the Broadway plugin, ask ChatGPT to recommend some of the plays currently on Broadway. ChatGPT will display the name of the plugin used to generate its response.

Step 7: Use the plugin by name
If you don’t get a proper response, you can also specify the plugin name in your request. For example, mention the Review Summary plugin if you’ve enabled and want to see a specific item on Amazon. Mention the plugin for Calorie Coach if you want to track your meals and get meal suggestions. If you need help creating or editing your resume put Easy Resume in the request Again, ChatGPT will confirm by displaying the name of the plugin used.

With AI Quest, you embark on an interactive text-based adventure. After telling ChatGPT that you want to play AI Quest, you are asked to choose a name and age range. Next, choose a theme for your adventure, such as space exploration, mystery thriller, romantic drama, or wild west. Choose a genre including horror, comedy, Tim Burton style or Tarantino style. The story begins with a description of the situation. At each stage, you’ll be asked to enter a choice you want to make to direct the action and plot.

You’re looking for a specific product on Amazon and want to know what other buyers think about it. Instead of searching for each customer review, use review summaries. By enabling this plugin, tell ChatGPT what item you’re looking for on Amazon and it will provide some notable reviews along with ratings, a summary of the product’s pros and cons, and an overall recommendation.
3. A-to-Z Video Summary

Instead of using YouTube’s on-site search feature, start yourself off with an A-to-Z video summary. With this plugin, you can describe what you want to watch and the plugin will provide a list and summary of YouTube videos and a link to the video. You can also request a more detailed summary of any listed video.

Looking to shed a few pounds or simply eat more healthily? Calorie Coach can help. With this plugin, you are able to get calorie information on any type of food in restaurants and grocery stores. You can then track the calories in all your meals to make sure you’re eating the right foods to lose weight and get healthy.

HiCollectors Finder is a useful plugin for those of you who like to shop on eBay. Tell ChatGPT what product you’re looking for on eBay, and it will come back with a list of items for sale. Each entry contains the item’s name and price, a description, and a link to its sales page on the site.

In response, the AI describes your options, lists the price, and offers a link to the Kayak website where you can book the item you need.

Most AI chatbots can create a song based on your description, but the Music plugin lets you listen to the created song. Like Google’s MusicLM AI, you can tell ChatGPT what kind of song you want and what topic you want it to cover. In response, the lyrics appear on the screen with a link to a web page where you can listen to the song.

You cannot time travel in the real world but you can in the virtual world. With the Timeport plugin, you’re off to an interactive text-based adventure through time. Tell ChatGPT what year or era you’d like to visit, and you’ll be placed in a scene that describes the atmosphere, conditions, and people (or other living things) around you.
