Coca-Cola has created a new flavor with the help of artificial intelligence.
The limited-edition Y3000 Zero Sugar soft drink is now available across Australia.
The drink is part of the Coca-Cola Creations range and has been designed to bring Coke fans the “taste of tomorrow”, a glimpse of 3000 years.
The look and taste of Y3000 Zero Sugar is inspired by consumer preferences and insights from AI.
The main themes were fed into an AI image generator to create the mood board which inspired the packaging design and the colors used in the visuals.
Coca-Cola then looked to flavor trends to find out what consumers would like the taste of the future to be.
Preferences were used as inspiration to help develop AI recommended flavor combinations.
Coca-Cola Australia marketing manager Livia De Salvo said the company wanted to create a “future themed” drink.
“Coca-Cola Creations is all about creating unexpected and magical moments for our fans,” she said.
“We wanted to create a refreshing, futuristic-themed drink that combines Coca-Cola’s signature flavor with the power of artificial intelligence.”
Ms Di Salvo added that AI technology played an important role in developing a distinct taste.
“With the help of AI-driven technology, Coca-Cola Y3000 Zero Sugar imagines how the Coca-Cola of the future will taste and presents an innovative experience to explore the future,” she said.
Coca-Cola’s new offering is one of the first drinks to be developed with the help of AI.
Hell Energy, an energy-drink brand founded in Hungary, launched a new product in July this year that is made entirely using a recipe developed by AI.
Reaction to the new Coca-Cola flavor in Australia has been mixed so far.
One Facebook user commented that the taste was “not bad, not wonderful”.
“It tastes like passionfruit mixed with green tea,” said another.
The new drink is part of 165 soft drinks offered by Coca-Cola in Australia.
Australians can now purchase Y3000 Zero Sugar from convenience and grocery stores nationwide.
